Rich Morell of Camp Birch Hill on the Summer Camp Industry

A new report commissioned by the American Camp Association reveals that youth camps in the Northeast, including New Hampshire, have a direct financial benefit of $3.2 billion and employ 190,000 people seasonally. In addition to bringing smiles to his campers' faces every day, Rich Morell of Camp Birch Hill, located in New Durham, NH, is proud to be part of such an economically stimulating industry in an otherwise tough economic climate.

While the American economy struggles to gain momentum, 16 million youths go to day and/or overnight camp in the Northeast with 190,000 workers receiving $900 million in wages. Furthermore, summer camps spend $1.6 billion on foods including food and supplies as well as services such as banking, maintenance, and repair. With so many children being dropped off, picked up, and visited during their stay, the communities surrounding the camp programs have become tourist destinations with increased spending on food, lodging, and recreation by families and campers.

While Rich Morell's first priority at Camp Birch Hill is providing a safe and fun environment for young people during their 2, 4, or 6 week stays, he is happy to be able to give back to the community through jobs and the camp's spending on food and other goods and services.
If you are looking for ways to kick-start the economy and make sure your kids have an educational and exciting experience this summer, consider traditional summer camp for boys and girls. Camp Birch Hill, located in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire, is a place where kids can learn and grow while creating friendships and memories of a lifetime - and you can help contribute to the communities nearby.
